The aim of the partnership is the enrichment of both partners, and the enlivening of mission as we share together. The two Districts are both under The Methodist Church though in different conferences. There is much that we have in common such as worship, prayer, testimony, equality, gender, social justice, climate change and personal and community development. Besides having common ground, the partnership will encourage both sides to learn new cultures and expectations.
Having formally agreed the partnership at the September 2021 Synod in East Anglia and a similar agreement having been made at the Harare West Synod too, we have begun to explore how the partnership might work in practice.
Here are some ideas:
- Praying for each other
- ‘Twinning’ – either Circuit to Circuit, church to church or by linking women’s groups, or Junior Church groups
- Sharing worship ideas
- It may be that physical visits could happen in the future.
